The Divine Liturgy is the central worship service of the Orthodox Church. It is the gathering of God's people to worship the Holy Trinity and receive Holy Communion. Orthodox Christians believe the Divine Liturgy is a participation in the heavenly worship described in Scripture. Through prayer, hymns, readings, and the Eucharist, the faithful encounter Christ and one another. The most commonly celebrated form is the Divine Liturgy of Saint John Chrysostom.
